online technologies

There were a lot of issues raised on the PBS presentation. Most of them are related to how we are so accustomed to the online world and how comfortable we feel sharing information to strangers. Social networking websites such as Myspace and Facebook has taken over most of teenagers and even adults lives. We almost spend three to four hours of our daily time on the network doing not so effective work and this is causing damage. There are fewer and fewer interactions between families and their children and how those children do not feel uncomfortable sharing their private lives with their parents. as the social networking is taking over more and more daily on teenagers' lives, concerns about online predators and cyber crimes are rising. Teenagers do not think about the consequences they can be face with if they happen to come in contact with the predator. Also there was a case about how this 11 year old teenager commits suicide due to cyber bullying. had this teenager talked with his parents and taken their help, he might have not committed suicide. also there was a case about this teenager named Jessica Hunter also known as Autumn Edows. She found relief in exposing herself on the network and gain reputation that she had never gotten by the way she was in school. These events and actions are concerning parents and others and how they should be controlled.

President Barack Obama used the merging technologies very well in his support to win the elections and become president. during the campaign, the Obama team created a networking sit, www.my.barackobama.com, also known as mybo.com. This networking website helped the entire team generate revenue for their campaign and support them during the elections. Other candidates tried to use the similar methods but were not able to target the audience the way Obama's team did. This shows how technology is helping decision makers make more effective decisions.

Second Life, an online gaming environment that has been helping many individuals take a step outside their boundaries. In other words, individuals who have a hard time interacting with others can interact freely and without any limitations. one can create their own hypothetical world in which they are free to do whatever without anyone judging them based on their capabilities. Second Life also helped many business career students to be an entrepreneur and check their abilities to how well they can be in the real world. This gaming environment has many social benefits and fewer problems because it is helping people to be more social and more accepted to how the real would would be from the hypothetical world.
